The Apollo is the slim one. At 83.2 x 107.2 x 28.5mm it is shallow enough to mount behind a 4 to 5mm glass or perspex front, which is how an EV charger or a car wash keeps its reader out of the weather entirely. It takes contactless and QR only — no card slot, no magstripe — with PIN entry on a 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen.
Underneath is an ARM Cortex A7 at 528MHz with 256MB of RAM and 8GB of eMMC, running Linux. A camera reads QR and barcodes, and there are ambient light and proximity sensors so the screen responds as someone approaches. Four RGB LEDs do the talking when the screen cannot.
The frame is European Vending Association compliant, so it fits a cutout that already exists, and it runs off an MDB port at 12 to 24V DC or a mains supply. Security is PCI PTS 6.x with EMVCo contactless L1 v3.0. Operating range is -20 to 55C, and it is sold in black or white.
What it costs
The rate you pay is negotiated on your volume and card mix, not set by the terminal — two businesses on the same Apollo can be paying very different money. Find out what yours should be.
