Castles Technology
- Company role:
- Terminal manufacturer
- Head office:
- New Taipei City, Taiwan
The Taiwanese terminal builder behind a lot of hardware that carries somebody else’s badge — a wide Android range sold through acquirers and payment facilitators, never direct to merchants.
About Castles Technology
Castles Technology was founded in Taiwan in 1993 and builds payment terminals for banks, acquirers, payment facilitators and resellers rather than selling to merchants itself. It is listed in Taipei under the code 5258 and runs out of New Taipei City.
The range is organised into named series rather than one flat model list, and the pattern is worth knowing before reading a quote. Saturn 1000 is the volume Android line — portables, countertops, PIN pads and unattended modules all sharing a platform. Saturn 2000 is the large-screen end: a multilane terminal and a tablet POS. Vega 1000 is the older Linux line, still sold, for buyers who want a long-lived certified device rather than something that runs apps. Nova 1000 is the integrated POS.
Castles reaches Australian merchants the same way PAX does — through a provider who brands and prices the hardware as their own. The badge on the terminal in front of you rarely says Castles, which is exactly why a device page is more useful than a brand page.
