The DOT is a scanner rather than a payment terminal. It is 85mm across, 30mm deep and 78g, it reads QR and barcodes off a phone screen or a printed voucher, and it speaks MDB so a vending machine can act on what it reads.

The point is app-based payment and loyalty without issuing anybody a card. A customer scans from the Nayax app, or presents a coupon, and the machine vends. Paired with a Nayax card reader it becomes the code half of an omni-channel setup rather than the whole payment path.

A 640x480 CMOS sensor with white LED illumination behind anti-vandal Dragontrail glass, a 68 by 51 degree field of view, and a scan angle tolerant of 360 degrees of roll. It reads the full set of 1D and 2D symbologies — EAN, UPC, Code 128, PDF417, Data Matrix, Aztec and the rest. Operating range -20 to 55C.

What it costs

The rate you pay is negotiated on your volume and card mix, not set by the terminal — two businesses on the same DOT QR Smart Reader can be paying very different money. Find out what yours should be.
