PAX Technology
- Company role:
- Terminal manufacturer
- Head office:
- Hong Kong
The volume challenger that broke the Ingenico–Verifone duopoly on price — Android smart terminals sold through acquirers and resellers rather than direct to merchants.
About PAX Technology
PAX was founded in Shenzhen in 2000 and listed on the Hong Kong exchange as PAX Global Technology Limited, with its registered office in Bermuda and operations run out of Hong Kong. For FY2025 it reported revenue of HK$5,872.5 million and net profit of HK$756.2 million, with 1,445 employees at 31 December 2025.
Its Australian arm became wholly owned on 1 September 2024, when PAX acquired the remaining shares in PAX Technology Australia Pty Ltd from Eagle Fintech Australia, taking full control of a business originally established here in 2017 and holding Australian and New Zealand distribution rights. PAX runs local PCI PIN-certified remote key injection and Sydney-based HSM infrastructure.
PAX does not sell to merchants and publishes no merchant pricing. Its terminals reach Australian businesses through acquirers, payment facilitators and resellers, each of whom brands and prices the same hardware differently — which is why the device a merchant is offered says very little about what they will pay for it.
