The UT430 is Quest’s unattended module: one unit holding a magstripe reader, a chip reader, a contactless reader and a PIN pad, so an operator fits one thing rather than four. It is 104 x 137 x 120mm overall but only 70mm of that sits inside the machine, behind an EVA-compliant cutout of 86.4 x 108.7mm.
Quest sells it into kiosks, transport, pay-at-pump, vending and parking. The bezel is UV-stabilised flame-retardant engineering plastic and the unit is IP45, which is weather-resistant rather than weatherproof — worth checking against a fully exposed site.
A 32-bit RISC processor at 96MHz. The expansion modules are where the configuration happens: Ethernet and 3G together on one module with a SIM socket and an external antenna connection, or Ethernet alone, plus an MDB slave connector for vending, a serial printer port and a port for an external magstripe reader. It weighs 500g.
What it costs
The rate you pay is negotiated on your volume and card mix, not set by the terminal — two businesses on the same UT430 can be paying very different money. Find out what yours should be.
