The DX4000 is Ingenico’s answer to the counter: an Android terminal that sits beside the till rather than being carried to the table. At 177.6 x 80 x 56.8mm and 435g it is a desktop device, but it keeps a 2200mAh battery, so a power interruption does not end the trading day.
Wired connectivity is the reason to choose it, and the catch is that most of it is not in the terminal. Ethernet and the extra USB ports arrive through an optional accessory Ingenico calls the MagicBox, so a merchant who needs a hard line should check the quote includes one.
The screen is 5 inches at 854 x 480, with a 0.3MP front camera for reading QR codes and a 40mm thermal printer. Memory is 8GB flash and 1GB RAM as standard, 16GB and 2GB optional. Security is PCI PTS v6.
What it costs
The rate you pay is negotiated on your volume and card mix, not set by the terminal — two businesses on the same Axium DX4000 can be paying very different money. Find out what yours should be.
