The Self/3000 accepts a chip card, a contactless tap, a magstripe swipe or a QR code and cannot take a PIN. It is a no-CVM device by design, which suits the low-value, high-volume world of vending machines, EV chargers and car washes, where a keypad is one more thing to be vandalised.
There are two builds. The Light has USB slave and RS232 only and is a plug-compatible replacement for an installed iUC285, down to the fixing points. The Standard adds a USB host, an Ethernet port, an MDB slave connection and an optional 4G add-on box, but needs a custom cutout.
The display is 2.4 inches and non-touch, with two mechanical function keys. It is 85 x 106.8 x 69.9mm, 331g as Standard and 318g as Light, IP65 and IK10, rated -25 to +70C, PCI PTS v6.
What it costs
The rate you pay is negotiated on your volume and card mix, not set by the terminal — two businesses on the same Self/3000 can be paying very different money. Find out what yours should be.
