Most Android terminals have moved PIN entry onto the glass. The DX6000 deliberately has not. It keeps 15 physical keys with raised markings below a 4-inch touchscreen and adds an integrated speaker that can give spoken guidance. For a merchant serving older or vision-impaired customers, that combination is the whole argument for the device.

Underneath it is the same platform as the rest of the Axium line — a quad-core A53 at 1.3GHz, 8GB flash and 1GB RAM as standard with 16GB and 2GB optional, Android 10, PCI PTS v6. The battery is 2600mAh standard and 3350mAh optional.

At 198 x 80 x 66mm and 450g it is a chunky handheld. It carries a 40mm thermal printer, a 0.3MP front camera, an optional 5MP rear camera, and — unusually for a portable — an Ethernet connection.

What it costs

The rate you pay is negotiated on your volume and card mix, not set by the terminal — two businesses on the same Axium DX6000 can be paying very different money. Find out what yours should be.
