The SX7000 is the same unattended module as the SX5000 with a shuttered smart card reader added and a magstripe reader available as an option. Everything else is shared — Android 14, the 5-inch display, the presence and luminosity sensors, the MDB and serial connectivity, IP65, IK09 and PCI PTS v6.

Adding the card slot costs depth and weight. Without the magstripe reader it is 110mm wide and 550g; with it, 117mm wide, 37.5mm of front protrusion against 31.5mm, and 581g. On a kiosk whose cutout is already specified, that is not a detail to discover late.

The choice between the two models is simply whether the site has to accept an inserted card. Where contactless and QR cover the use case, the SX5000 is the simpler install.

What it costs

The rate you pay is negotiated on your volume and card mix, not set by the terminal — two businesses on the same Axium SX7000 can be paying very different money. Find out what yours should be.
