Where the Self/2000 and Self/5000 put PIN entry on glass, the Self/4000 LE uses a 16-key backlit mechanical keypad. On an outdoor kiosk, or anywhere a customer may be wearing gloves or struggling to see the screen, that is a real advantage rather than a legacy one.
It takes everything — a hybrid chip reader with a shutter and RGB LEDs at the mouth, magstripe, contactless and QR. The display is a 2.27-inch wide-angle colour IPS panel rather than a touchscreen, readable from roughly any angle.
It is 85 x 107.2 x 109.6mm and 620g, IK09 but only IP44, so Ingenico rates it indoor with limited outdoor use — a distinction worth holding onto against the IP65 Self/2000. PCI PTS v6, two SAM slots, and the same add-on box system for power, MDB, EXE and 4G.
What it costs
The rate you pay is negotiated on your volume and card mix, not set by the terminal — two businesses on the same Self/4000 LE can be paying very different money. Find out what yours should be.
